How can we talk about innovation? Is it easy to innovate? Is it possible to work for innovation for participation among academic entities and institutions?
The Local Innovation Lab – LabLocal, was a project promoted by the District Institute of Participation and Community Action (IDPAC) of Bogota with the support of CILA. It sought to generate a collaborative learning space to facilitate citizen participation and innovation in this city.
With more than 60 initiatives received, LabLocal selected 10 proposals that proposed solutions to specific territorial problems and distributed in four areas defined as priorities: public space, citizen participation, economic reactivation and education.
Thus, between August 14 and 19, 2023, LabLocal 2023 was held with the ten (10) winning projects of the call for proposals. During that week, the selected teams worked together with IDPAC, collaborators and mentors of CILA, in the construction of their prototypes.
During this process, CILA became a strategic ally of LabLocal in the previous process, that is, during the call for proposals, as well as during the mentoring of the Lab. In this way, CILA supported in the development of the methodology and evaluation of the projects, as well as in various panel discussions to exchange strategies to promote spaces for citizen transformation. Through initiatives such as this one, CILA seeks to strengthen democracy in the cities of the Global South with initiatives that have innovation and collective intelligence at the center of their actions.
